I am a professional level transcriber and captioner with a typing speed of 90+ WPM and a verified accuracy of 99+%. I specialize in true verbatim unstamped audio transcription and plaintext YouTube CC .srt files. My turnaround times can vary, but will generally be no longer than a week except for long multispeaker videos, and as short as one day for videos under half an hour that do not require transcribing from scratch.
I am also available for data entry and transcription of screencaps/scans/etc. Contact for estimates on those projects.
Why human captions? Automated caption services, even premium ones, only promise a maximum of 85% accuracy. Human captions, either written from scratch or edited from automated/script captions, can consistently deliver 99+% accuracy, as well as better and more consistent denotation of sound cues other than speech (music, laughter, foley, etc) and significantly improved formatting.
Why single-listener captions? Many premium caption services crowdsource their captions, chopping the files up into tiny pieces. This loses both context and continuity, leading names to change spelling throughout the video, key terms to be misunderstood, or entire words to be chopped into incomprehensible pieces. By having a single listener for the entire captioning process, they have the context for every term, and can provide uniform consistency in spelling and formatting. Plus, in a pinch, they can contact you directly for clarification or verification. (Bonus, all your money goes directly to the person doing the labor, instead of being scraped for profit by a company subcontracting for peanuts.)
When does a video need to be transcribed from scratch? If content is unscripted and automated captions have not been utilized, or if a file has multiple speakers that frequently talk at the same time or a lot of background noise, the video must first be transcribed from scratch before captions can be formatted and synchronized with the audio.
Why edit script captions? Phrasing can change during the recording process, and lines can get moved around or removed entirely during the editing process. Simply inputting the script unedited as a caption file leads to mismatches in synchronization and phrasing that can be very distracting, and relying on the automated line breaks can make phrases more difficult to parse.
ahr = hour of audio.
These prices are negotiable for small/hobby channels. I understand not everyone is getting primary income from their videos.
1 hour of clear single-speaker audio takes an estimated 2 hours to transcribe, and 7 hours to format and sync.
